For many years, in the late fall days, Slavonian people have picked corn by hand on the beautiful Slavonian fields streaked with various colures while singing and joking at the same time. The corn picked in the husk was brought back to the landlord’s hose where pickers husked the corn, sang and laughed up to the late in the night, also enjoying in great food and plum-brandy. Scent and golden color of fields, sound of dry maize, taste of food from the rich Slavonian baskets on the breaks, is relaxing and exceptional experience that you don’t want to miss.

Step into the magic world of mushrooms and pick as many good ones! In the late fall days, under the one-hundred old Slavonian oaks and beech-trees, there are a great number of eatable and poisonous mushrooms. Experience special scent of the woods, sound of the dry leafs under the feet and relaxing rest on the laid down tree or stump, while the wild mushrooms stick out from the leafs. The exhibition of the wild mushrooms has been organized for several years in the Nova Gradiska restaurants, where the skilled cooks will prepare different meals from the wild mushrooms you have collected. Under the guide of our fellow-citizens, skilled mushroom pickers, you will learn to identify eatable from poisonous mushrooms as well as all about their beautiful world.

HIKING TRAILS OF THE PSUNJ MOUNTAIN

Active members of the mountain society “Strmac” are gathering in the mountain lodge in the weekend resort Strmac at the foot of the Psunj mountain. They spend their time together on the hiking trails of the Psunj mountain and than they prepare meals in the open while enjoying the pleasant surroundings of the mountain lodge. It is real challenge for your spirit time to make campfire, barbecue or roast meat on the spit, play sports on the nearby sport fields or learn more about rear protected species on this area. Mountaineers will be happy to be your hosts. All you need is to come. If you wish to stay longer, there is possibility of spending the night in the mountain lodge or in the open, if you prefer camping.

If you enjoy patiently awaiting to see carp, pike-perch, catfish or some other kind of fresh-water fish caught on your rod, than we suggest pleasing yourself on Orasje pond nearby the Psunj hill-sides. If you don’t get lucky to catch a fish, you can always join the members of the fishing club and together with them prepare and taste the delicious fish soup.
